Day 8 of a Coastal Voyage in Norway
Hammerfest and the Northern Lights
Today we continued south and stopped in Hammerfest where we visited The Arctic Culture Centre where there was an art exhibition based on a Sami language exterminator which was explained to us by the artist. Also we went into the Royal & Ancient Polar Bear Society. From there we headed south, passing Oksfjord and Skjervoy. In the evening there was a Quiz Night on but this was pleasantly interrupted by the Captain announcing that the Northern Lights were out so we all scurried on to the deck to view this. They continued but lowered in intensity until we arrived back in Tromso.
