Day 9 of a Coastal Voyage in Norway
Traversing the Lofoten Islands
Today we continued south and traversed the Lofoten Islands in the daylight so it was a very scenic day. We went past Harstad, Risoyhamm and then through the Risoy Strait (Risoyrenna) and then had a quick stop at Risoyhamm to visit the Kings Stone. We then went under the Sortland Bridge before stopping in Stokmarknes where we had a very brief visit to the Hurtigruten Ship Museum. After that we traversed the Raftsundet strait, went in and out of Trollfjord before docking at Svolvaer where I went on the Lofotpils brewery excursion.

Kongesteinen (The King's Stone ) at Risoyhamn
Kongesteinen, or the King’s Stone, is a significant historical monument located in Risøyhamn.
This commemorative stone was first inscribed by King Haakon VII on 25 June 1922
Over the years, two more Norwegian monarchs have added their signatures to the stone, making it a unique testament to the country’s royal history. Today, some of the ship’s crew left flowers for King Harold.
